Her electric blue eyes grew dimmer as she waited for him to come and save her the way he always had, the way he always did. She would never give up on him, she knew that he would come. "Razer…" she called weakly, droplets beginning to fall from her fascinating pools of blue. How the AI had changed over the past months with the Interceptor's crew. All she needed was an organic body and nobody would ever question her again. She would never have to hear the painful words "You're just a robot." ever again. And most important of all, she could be with him. She could display the feelings that had blossomed in her small, artificial heart. She could show him that it wasn't a mess up in programming or anything similar; It was true emotion. But that day would never come, she realized, as she lay there dying.

The Guardians had found out about everything. They had run through all of the files of her memory and seen her interactions with the one she could finally say that she loved, they could see the way that she was changing, and they despised it. Being against all emotion, they turned against her, she who had developed feelings, and they dismantled her. Almost every fiber of her being was torn apart and all that was left were the memories she held so dear, but even those were slipping away as the ones who built her continued to erase everything in her memory. All the moments reflected in her eyes, so clear that they could be watched like a film. Her more recent memories began to show, and the sounds that came with them streamed through her head, causing more tears to spill forth from her eyes.

This one was the memory she held dearest, and something akin to pain coursed through her as it began to slip from her mind.

"Razer… How…?"

"It… does not matter."

His voice was soft and comforting, very different from the usual tone he used. The AI felt herself being picked up by his capable hands and she let her body fall into his embrace, the moment being so perfect that she hoped it would never end. He picked off the device Drusa had attached to her and crushed it mercilessly, bringing her back to full control of her humanoid body. "Razer…" she said softly, her voice still weak. "Yes, Aya?" he responded, the volume of his voice lowered to match her own.

"Thank you."

His own blue eyes seemed to soften and he replied with a simple, "You're welcome."

"No…" Aya whispered, shutting her eyes tight in the hopes that it would somehow help her from losing the precious moment that she had hoped would stick with her forever. But she could not stop it. It was erased like a pencil's mistake on a sheet of paper. However, this kind of eraser would not even leave a smudge of what once was.

Suddenly, her sensors –or what was left of them— picked up a familiar energy, one that she had come to know quite well in her time as part of the Interceptor's crew. Rage! she thought, eyes flying wide as recognition flooded through her. There was only one Red Lantern who it could be.

"Razer?" she said, her voice barely a whisper.

"Aya!"

Razer ran over to where the artificial intelligence who he had fallen so hard for, laid. He picked up what was left of her, and disbelief swam through his icy blue gaze, which was suddenly overflowing with warmth. "Aya…" he said, teeth clenching as it registered in his mind what kind of condition she was in. His gloved fingertips brushed over the synthetic skin of her cheek and he closed his eyes, unable to look at her in the state that she was in. It was all his fault… After the fate his beloved Ilana had suffered, he promised himself that he would never allow himself to fail the ones that were important to him ever again. But now, that promise meant nothing. It was broken—no, shattered. There was nothing he'd ever be able to do to redeem himself now. One mistake was forgivable after some time, but the second one was not even close to that.

The Red Lantern gritted his teeth, his rage building but not aimed towards anyone but himself.

"Aya, forgive me. I've been so foolish. But I suppose there's no need for words now."

The AI managed a tiny nod, the smallest of smiles forming on her face.

"Razer, you came back. That is all that matters as of now."

Aya lifted the hand she had left and used it to touch his face, a gesture that she had actually first seen from him in his memories with his deceased wife. The Red Lantern watched as she performed the movement and for a moment, shock filled his gaze but he knew that this was no time to be surprised. For now, all that mattered was that they were here, together. Slowly, he lifted his own hand and covered hers with it, using it to keep her smaller hand in place, just where it was. Gazing down at Aya, he focused on her face, taking in every detail of it, every tiny bit. It no longer appeared as the face of Ilana to him, but instead it was simply… Aya's face. Nothing more, and nothing less. It suddenly came to him then, the words that the Star Sapphire Queen, Aga'po had spoken before she transported him to where he was now, at his love's side.

This was the second time she had helped him get to Aya and he was forever grateful for that alone, but now he had another thing to be grateful for. The Zamaronian queen had given him a few words of wisdom before allowing him to go.

"You could save her, you know. There is nothing more powerful than love in this universe. Now go."

Perhaps she had been right. Wasn't it love that drove every being to do things that they normally wouldn't even think about doing? Wasn't it love that pushed them all to risk their lives, or perhaps even go so far to just let go of their lives with no hope of ever surviving. Realization dawned in the Red Lantern and now he knew what he must do.

Razer moved his hand away from where it had been, covering Aya's hand, and instead placed it at the back of her head, lifting her up slightly. Then, he began to lean down, his icy blue gaze fixed on her face. The light in her eyes had dimmed considerably since he had shown up, and it only reminded him that he didn't have much time left. As he came to a stop just a hair's length away from her face, he allowed his eyelids to fall over his deep blue orbs and without another moment's hesitation, he moved forward and finally closed the distance between him and Aya. His lips touched hers, and for a few seconds their contact seemed odd, but that feeling soon melted away and was replaced by an unbelievable warmth in his heart. Minutes passed, but he kept his position, determination fueling him to do so. And when he finally broke away from her, he did nothing but watch her face, scanning it for any signs of movement.

She had to still be alive! It simply needed to be so! However, she didn't stir. There was nothing to show him that he had saved her. The Red Lantern's jaws parted as he tried to find something to say, something to do, but he was absolutely speechless. The hopes that had risen so high inside of him were now crushed to the point of no revival. Grief washed over him and now he put the AI down, his legs straightening as he began to stand up.

"I'm sorry, Aya."

The words came out so hushed that one could barely even call it audible. Slumping his shoulders in defeat and sorrow, Razer stepped forward, ready to leave this horrid place behind when his wrist was gently taken hold of by something behind him. The touch was unmistakable, as he had felt it many times before and now his hopes were resurrected as he turned to see the sight behind him.

"Aya!"

Her name escaped from his parted lips as he rushed over to the AI as she attempted to begin reassembling herself. However, there was something very different about her now. As each piece of her body came together, it turned from robotic to… to….

"Human?"

The word didn't come from him, but rather from her, almost as if she had read his mind. "B-But how?" he said, unable to believe his eyes. As Aya finally finished putting herself back together, she stood up and looked over her new self, uncontrollable delight washing over her like the largest of tidal waves. When her eyes met his once more, the corners of her lips upturned to reveal a gorgeous smile. "I believe the Star Sapphires invested a small amount of their power inside of you. I suppose it was something of a gift to help?"

Her words came out smoothly instead of in the usually, static-y robot voice she had once had. The new human looked up into the blue eyes of her lover and for a moment, she simply stared and he stared right back at her. There was no need for words now. In fact, there never had been. Placing a hand on each side of his face, she gently brought his head down slightly and then stood as tall as she possibly could before pressing her lips to his, an act that no longer embarrassed her to even think about. At the gestures, Razer did nothing more than return it with the same amount of affection and desire as she had showed him in initiating it. His arms wrapped around her back and he held her as close as they could possibly be, hoping that he would never have to think of letting go of her ever again.
Title: "No Need For Words"
Characters: Razer and Aya (Razaya)
Rating: PG
Summary: This takes place after "Homecoming" and is a little thing that I came up with that might happen. So basically, the Guardians go through all of Aya's memory files to see what data she has collected throughout her journey and they find that somehow, someway, she has started to grow emotions. Being the way they are, they take it as a malfunction and they attempt to destroy her. And the rest? Well, read it to find out! ^^

So, my first fanfiction ever. Towards the end, I do admit, it got very bad but I do hope you all enjoy it! It only took me a couple hours to write it so don't expect anything too much. That's all. Thanks for reading! ^^
